Senator Norris gets an “A” in half-truths, but half truths won’t fix our schools. The whole truth is that public dollars belong in public education! I agree with Senator Norris that students need all the help they can get from the state, but we won’t fix our struggling schools by draining them dry.
YES! Just as my colleagues from Knoxville are showing true leadership in the Tennessee House of Representatives, I too will make my voice heard on such an important issue in the State Senate.
This isn’t rocket science. Commissioner Huffman, if we made “historic educational gains” why then the rush for so much educational change so quickly? If we didn’t make historic gains why not bring all stakeholders to the table so true educational reform can occur? It seems to me our first order of business needs to be finding a standard whereby both sides can talk about the true status of our schools. As a first step, I suggest we spend more time listening to people rather than villifying them. Not everyone who is against something is a detractor, just as not everyone who is for something always has the right answer.
BAD NEWS! Contact your senator/representative and tell them to vote NO on school vouchers!

Last night I spoke to a group of Democrats from the 3rd and 4th district. This group had questions about education, jobs, and healthcare for me. I enjoyed the lively discussion, and am looking forward to future communications with many of these supporters. The Southern Hospitality was at its finest with sweet treats and soft drinks. Thank you for the opportunity to share my story with you and thank you for your support! I am energized by these events and our campaign is gaining momentum. The 7th district deserves better representation and I intend to provide it!
I had a wonderful interview with KnoxViews today! It was great discussing my policy positions with Mr. Randy Neal. Check out the interview below, then please share with your friends!
